🌤️ Joys of RVing: Colonial Williamsburg

We camped at the Thousand Trails RV Resort in Williamsburg and ventured out to see the sights. We took a trip south to our old stomping grounds at the Newport News Shipyard and Naval Base Norfolk. We didn't make it to Busch Gardens on this trip, but we did visit Colonial Williamsburg, a bucket list item for us.

If you've never been, Colonial Williamsburg is a living history museum that allows visitors to step back in time to the 18th century. The 301-acre site features over 800 restored buildings, including Governor's Palace, the Capitol, and the College of William and Mary. Visitors can see tradespeople plying their trades, listen to period music, hear recitations from historic figures and sample colonial cuisine. There are many things to see and do at Colonial Williamsburg.

  • Take a guided tour. There are a variety of guided tours available, including tours of the Governor's Palace, the Capitol, and the College of William and Mary. These tours are a great way to learn about the history of Colonial Williamsburg and the people who lived there.

  • Meet the interpreters. The interpreters at Colonial Williamsburg are costumed actors who portray real people from the 18th century. They can answer your questions about life in Colonial Williamsburg and give you a glimpse into what it was like to live there.
