Our trusty RV has taken us to many memorable destinations, one of the best being Charleston, South Carolina. While there we went to the Warren Lasch Conservation Center, where we observed the restoration project of the H. L. Hunley, the world's first successful combat submarine. We also visited Fort Sumter, the birthplace of the Civil War. Sumter is a sea fort located in Charleston Harbor. It was built in the 1820s to protect the city from naval invasion. However, Fort Sumter is most famous for being the site of the first shots fired in the American Civil War.
