🏆 RV Top 5: Don't Do These Things

Updated: Jul 10, 2023

Here are 5 things you should never do to your RV.

  1. Overpack. RVs are not as spacious as they may seem, so it's important to pack light. Only bring the essentials, and leave the rest at home.

  2. Travel with the fridge on. This can damage the fridge and void your warranty. If you're not going to be using the fridge for an extended period of time, turn it off.

  3. Replace the water heater anode rod with a plastic plug. This will shorten the life of your water heater and increase your risk of leaks.

  4. Leave the black tank valve open when connected to sewer. This can cause a mess and attract pests. Make sure to close the valve when you're finished using the bathroom.

  5. Off-road. RVs are not designed for off-road use. If you're going to be driving in rough terrain, rent a truck or SUV instead.

By following these tips, you can help keep your RV in good condition and extend its lifespan.

Here are some additional tips for taking care of your RV.

  • Regularly inspect your RV for leaks. If you see any water damage, take action immediately to prevent it from getting worse.

  • Clean your RV regularly. This will help prevent the build-up of dirt and grime, which can damage your RV's exterior and interior.

  • Store your RV in a cool, dry place. This will help protect it from the elements and prevent damage from pests and mold.

  • Have your RV serviced regularly. This will help ensure that it is in good working order and that any potential problems are caught early.

By following these tips, you can help keep your RV in good condition and enjoy many years of camping trips.
