🐶 RV Pets: Snake-Proof Your Pups

Updated: Jul 30, 2023

  • Keep your pets on a leash when you are outside. This will help to prevent them from running into snakes.

  • Inspect your RV and campsite for snakes before you set up camp. Look for snakes under rocks, in bushes, and in tall grass.

  • If you see a snake, do not approach it. Give it plenty of space and let it go on its way.

  • If your pet is bitten by a snake, seek medical attention immediately. Do not attempt to suck out the venom or apply a tourniquet.

Here are some additional tips for keeping your pets safe from snakes.

  • Do not leave your pet unattended in your RV. Snakes can easily climb into RVs, even if they are closed up.

  • Make sure your pet's food and water bowls are clean and free of debris. Snakes can be attracted to the scent of food and water.

  • Keep your pet's bedding clean and free of snakes. Snakes can hide in bedding, especially if it is dirty.

  • If you are camping in an area with a lot of snakes, consider using a snake-proof kennel for your pet. Snake-proof kennels are made of metal or plastic and have small holes that snakes cannot fit through.

By following these tips, you can help to keep your pets safe from snakes while RVing.

Here are some additional products that can help to protect your pets from snakes.

  • Snake repellents: Snake repellents can be sprayed on your RV and campsite to deter snakes.

  • Snake traps: Snake traps can be used to catch snakes.

  • Snake bite kits: Snake bite kits contain the necessary supplies to treat a snake bite.

If you are concerned about snakes, you can talk to your veterinarian about additional ways to protect your pets.
